One of the advantages of Internet Download Manager is that it is able to shorten the download time for any file that you want to grab from the Internet. If its capabilities are just not enough for you, you can use a tool that promises to increase the download speed even more, such as IDM Optimizer.
The purpose of this lightweight application is to help you tweak Internet Download Manager, in order to optimize the download process and get the data on your computer much faster.
Designed with ease of use in mind, IDM Optimizer features a simple and clean interface that only comprises three buttons. One is for accessing the proxy settings, the second starts the optimization process and the third restores the default settings of the application.
Needless to say that you have to have Internet Download Manager installed on your computer. Once you initiate the optimization process, it takes no longer than a few seconds for the application to notify about the success of the operation. What IDM Optimizer actually does is tweak the settings of IDM by modifying the default connection type to 'Other' and increase the connection speed. The maximum number of connections is not modified.
If you are not satisfied with the new configuration and IDM's performance, you can always revert the changes by using the 'Default' button.
As mentioned above, IDM Optimizer provides support for proxy connections, enabling you to configure the proxy server address and the port. In addition to this, it allows you to use SOCKS4 and SOCKS5 protocols in order to secure the download process.
IDM Optimizer promises to enhance IDM's ability to increase the download speed by modifying its settings, which might help with downloading large files using Internet Download Manager.
